👨👩👧 Hallock family history
The house was built for the Hallock family, a long-time Long Island family.
The family lived there continuously until 1975.
In 1995, the last surviving Hallock family member donated the house—with all its original furnishings still inside—to the local historical society.
🏛 Preservation
Today the home is operated by the Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society as a museum.
It sits on about 3½ acres with outbuildings such as a chicken coop and former icehouse foundation.
Because most furnishings were left in place, the house acts as a “time capsule” of a late-1800s Long Island family home.
